CULTURAL ENRICHMENT YOUTH PROGRAMMING

Our enrichment programming is aimed to promote the change in the student's outlook on life by developing and utilizing holistic health education as it relates to the mind, body and spirit, music, cultural empowerment. The demographic that we will be serving is largely African American males and females grades entering grades 4th - 10th grade. Many of the families who serve live in neighborhoods that are entrenched by high crime rates, gang activity, and cycles of intergenerational poverty. Our students have to face social problems in the home and community such as criminal behavior, substance abuse and learning may become a lower priority for them. These inner-city students are less likely to complete their homework or come to class prepared with necessary books or supplies. This targeted population also suffers to the Summer Learning Loss at a disproportional rate as it relates to both reading and math retention. Parents will also be able to choose if they want their students to be involved with

CULTURAL PROGRAMS WAKANDA EXPERIENCE

There is a great need for cultural exposure among African Americans as a means to increase self-image, as well as give root to a value system that goes back for centuries. Humans are cultural beings. We learn to communicate and understand our world through the context of our languages, traditions, behaviors, beliefs and values. Cultural identity enables us to feel like we belong to a community. Individuals who value and respect their culture don't see their differences from other individuals and groups as a negative. They see themselves as a uniquely positive entity in the fabric of humanity. This initiative is designed to broaden the understanding and appreciation of Multiculturalism, Diversity, and Social Justice. Our goal is to promote relationship building by establishing supportive and vibrant networks that are committed to improving the recognition and acceptance of dignity and worth in every individual, as well as motivate the community to participate in activities that promote a healthy lifestyle.
